For the first time in six years, the Spirit of Twin Lakes Marching Band returned to the Indiana State School Music Association State Finals at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Under the direction of Zach Manson, with drill designed by Matt Wyse for a second consecutive year, the band earned the opportunity to compete in the Class C finals on October 28, 2023. Their accomplishment was celebrated with a parade through Monticello, IN to send them off to state. Congratulations to the entire group on a job well done!
The Spirit of Triton had an outstanding marching season in 2023, with Matt's impressive show design leading the band to top 1-2 placements at all invitationals and Gold Ratings at the ISSMA Open Class Invitational. The band received distinctions in Music, Visual, and Effect. Triton also made school history by earning a gold rating at the ISSMA Open Class Regionals, with only two other bands in their class receiving a distinction in Effect. As a result, the Spirit of Triton qualified to advance to the ISSMA Semi-State Competition. Congratulations to the band on their remarkable achievements!
Congratulations to Columbia High School on an outstanding marching season! In Matt's first year as a program coordinator and drill designer for Columbia, and with the help of his appointed color guard designer, Columbia received a superior rating from all six judges at the Florida MPA assessments. This is a remarkable achievement that hasn't been met since 2008! Congratulations to Columbia, and we look forward to designing for the 2024 season!
Trinity Christian Academy had an exceptional season, and we congratulate them. It is noteworthy that Matt has been writing for Trinity for the last seven years and has worked with three different band directors. However, one thing that has remained consistent is the pride and tradition of TCA. Trinity achieved outstanding results this season, winning first-place finishes at Ridgeview with the Best Visual, 2nd place at Fleming, and 1st place at Orange Park, taking home all captions. They then participated in the Florida MPA assessment, receiving a Superior rating. We congratulate Trinity Christian Academy on yet another fantastic season!
Congratulations to TF North! This is Matt's second year writing for TF North. He increased the drill design from a basic halftime show of 10 charts to 25 charts for their first competition season in 2023. The slow but steady progress paid off, and the band was awarded Grand Champions at their contest. This was the band's first time winning a competition in the school's history.
